Wild Elegance

There is a kind of beauty that does not ask permission to exist. It does not grow in perfect rows or stay inside carefully drawn lines. It spills, stretches, climbs, and takes up space — carrying softness and strength at the same time.

I created Wild Elegance near the beginning of my journey, when I was still learning to trust what happened when I stopped trying to control every mark. I let the colors overlap, the paint drip, and fragments of words remain visible beneath the surface. The hummingbird moves through it all with ease, while flowers bloom boldly, bees search for sweetness, and each layer seems to carry its own thought or memory.

Looking at it now, I see something I was only beginning to understand then: elegance does not have to mean quiet, polished, or restrained. It can be vivid. Complicated. Scarred. Unfinished. There is elegance in allowing yourself to remain wild — not because you are lost, but because you are finally no longer shrinking.

Selected as one of Patricia Graham’s four original paintings for the Venice International Art Fair, 25th Edition, at Palazzo Pisani Revedin in Venice, September 17–24, 2026. Also presented digitally through ARTBOX.PROJECT at SWISSARTEXPO, Zurich Main Station, Switzerland, in 2026.
